Luka Modric is looking forward to the New Year after making his return from injury.

Modric was sidelined for over three months after fracturing his fibula in August’s 2-1 win over Birmingham.

He made his return to the Spurs starting line up in Monday’s victory over West Ham, scoring a goal and reported no reaction to his injury.

“It was good to start the game and hopefully this sort of game time will give me the chance to get back into the shape I was in at the start of the season.

“My goal and the win overall will help my confidence, so now I need to keep going and working hard.

“Despite the length of time I had out, I feel good and I don’t feel any pain from the injury, and I must thank our medical staff, particularly Nathan Gardiner, for getting me fit again.”

Spurs finished the year strongly after the disappointing home defeat to Wolves and could end 2009 in the top four, depending on Aston Villa’s result against Liverpool, so Modric believes the future is looking bright for Spurs.

“That’s three wins from four games now and we haven’t conceded a goal in those four games either, which is important.

“We just need to keep this form going. We’ve got to put what has been a great year behind us and hopefully make 2010 just as successful.”

It’s very interesting to see Mancini come in without the Skysports “Top 4″ conditioning – look at a league where they trail the top club by 10 points, with a game in hand; and think to himself – yeah, with 57 points to play for, we can win this league!

Stratty all the best for the New Year from (Davspursrumourman). We should be singing from the same hymn sheet and also challenging for the league .Alex Red nose is saying its a two Horse race well He is wrong to say this and even has far down to the now fully charged Bin Dippers are still in with a shout. This will depend on who buys who in January Transfer Window and if we keep our stars and also don’t sell our leaving stars to rivals .
