Defender confirms Spurs interest

FC Koln defender Kevin Wimmer has confirmed to the German press that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him.

The Austrian international has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane on a regular basis over the past couple of months and now the player has admitted that there has been dialogue between both clubs.

A fee of £4million has been mentioned in the press for the 22-year-old central defender who joined the Bundesliga outfit for just €250,000 in 2012. Wilmer’s first priority is to help his current employer against prospect of relegation.

Should Wimmer move to the Lane he will look to become a regular fixture alongside Jan Vertonghen. Younes Kaboul is expected to move on during the summer, Fazio has failed to impress while Eric Dier has shown signs of promise.

‘Definitely there is interest in my services,’ he told German radio station 1LIVE.

‘Nothing is done yet,’ he said.

‘Both clubs have agreed we will at first be sure of our top-flight status. And then we will see what’s going to happen.’
