Heart issues for former Spurs midfielder

The Sun writes that former Spurs midfielder Michael Carrick has revealed the reason behind his recent injury mystery.

The veteran has been sidelined for two months, and club doctors were left baffled by his continued absence.

However the article says Carrick has now revealed that he has been diagnosed with a heart problem.Carrick, 36, has revealed he didn’t feel well in September’s Carabao Cup clash against Burton.

It adds that he underwent tests, and it turned out he had an irregular heart beat. It adds he had surgery to help solve the problem.

The article then quotes a statement from Carrick which read: “I just want to clear up my situation as I’ve had quite a few people asking if I’m OK and why I haven’t been fit over the last couple of months.

“After feeling strange during the 2nd half of the Burton game in September I underwent a series of tests.

Carrick added “It turned out to be due to an irregular heart rhythm which has been fully investigated and I had a procedure called a Cardiac Ablation.

He may have left under a cloud, but he is a former Spur, and he did play well for us. We wish him all the best in his recovery
