Mawson Rules Out Spurs Move

According to BBCSport, Swansea centre-back Alfie Mawson has ruled out a move away from Wales amidst transfer speculation linking the youngster with a move to Tottenham this Summer.

In recent weeks, Spurs have been linked with the 23 year old defender with a number of papers suggesting Tottenham would have to pay out up to £30 million for the Englishman who only made the step-up to Premier League football last year.

However now, Mawson has responded to the the transfer talk, explaining that he is ‘happy’ at Swansea and is not looking to move. In an interview with WalesOnline, he said:

“It’s all speculation. It’s nice to hear, but I’m a Swansea player and I’m more than happy here.”

“I’m very grounded and very level-headed when it comes to that.”

With Mawson’s help, Paul Clement’s Swansea side narrowly avoided relegation last season, but the young defender is still looking toward the future in Wales.

“I love it here,” He added. “I want to kick on and do great things at this club.”

“There’s always talk and there’s loads of speculation, but I’m happy to be here under the gaffer.”

“So it’s onwards and upwards at this club.”

After signing from Barnsley for just £5 million in 2016, Mawson still has 3 years left on his current deal at Swansea.

It seems Tottenham’s search for defensive cover is going to be tougher than expected. Who do you want Spurs to sign?
