Papers Release Another Hysterical Headline

Once again, a handful of papers and websites, including The Sun and Don Balon, are reporting that Chelsea are plotting a ridiculous £88 million move for Spurs sensation Dele Alli.

I call it ridiculous because, if it were true, which it isn’t, that £88 million figure is about £300 million short of anything I’d call close to acceptable.

Last week, we were all laughing about Manchester United’s imaginary £100 million master-stroke to steal Harry Kane away from Tottenham, which was suitably shut-down by Daniel Levy when he told them to double it as a start.

Today, the nonsense continues, but this time the fairy-tales are written about 21 year old wonder-kid Dele Alli, who scored 22 goals and created 8 assists across 50 appearances in all competitions last season.

Football Fancast, report that Antonio Conte has a list of the top targets he wants to see in a Chelsea shirt next season and apparently both Dele Alli and Romelu Lukaku are high on that list.

Lukaku is likely to leave Everton this Summer, as we already know he’s unwilling to extend his stay at Goodison Park as well as having revealed he’s got a destination in mind too, but Dele Alli, I have to say it again, it’s not happening.

Obviously, this is the all too familiar slice of invention that every Summer, gets squashed in Tottenham’s face.

It’s almost getting a little embarrassing, all these stories about how any Spurs player, the second they have a good season, is assured to leave once a rival with cash comes knocking.

It plays desperate ignorance to our ambition and our progress over the last three years and I wish they’d cut it out, because it’s totally degrading seeing something like that written about our club.

Obviously, Chelsea won’t even make a bid, but if they did, how much would you tell them he’s worth? Would you value him higher or lower than Kane? Or would you tell them to take a hike (which is absolutely an acceptable answer)?
