Brad Friedel – A very sound performance from the American, making a few smart saves and patrolling his area impressively.
Kyle Naughton – At times, marshalled Konoplyanka well but at other times he let him get past him far too easily. Average going forward.
Michael Dawson – Made a very smart block from Konoplyanka at 0-0 but was quite shaky all round. Still, I’m delighted we didn’t risk Kaboul on this nightmare of a pitch.
Jan Vertonghen – A couple of good tackles first half but gave away the penalty, arguably needlessly as the Dnipro player was being crowded out.
Danny Rose – Another average display from Rose, who is in danger of giving way to Naughton as first-choice left back. Decent going forward, but not particularly focused in defence.
Paulinho – Saw plenty of the ball without ever producing too much, other than the inch-perfect cross which Soldado should have finished.
Etienne Capoue – An impressive performance, marshalling the back 4; he gives a lot more freedom to Bentaleb with the Frenchman covering behind him.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Nabil Bentaleb – Looked to get on the ball and create but struggled in challenging conditions; went missing in the second half.
Andros Townsend – Terrible performance and rightly angry with himself when subbed off. Nothing went right for the winger tonight.
Nacer Chadli – Produced a nice cross for Soldado, who could only glance it at the keeper, and couldn’t quite react to poke Kane’s flick goal-bound. Otherwise quiet.
Roberto Soldado – Tonight’s performance mirrored the last couple of months for the Spaniard; impressive in flicks and passes, setting up Paulinho before he was fouled, but poor in finishing.
Substitutes
Christian Eriksen – Came off the bench and almost scored with his first touch before the goal was wrongly disallowed. Faded away in the last few minutes.
Harry Kane – A competent little cameo, proving a temporary menace for the Dnipro defence.
