Rumour Mill: Cedric Set For Stay

In one of the shortest lived-transfer rumours I’ve ever seen, it has been revealed that Tottenham’s interest in Southampton right-back Cedric Soares will come to nothing this Summer.

Just this morning, SkySports reported that Spurs had joined the race to sign the full-back alongside Premier League rivals Manchester City, as a possible replacement for Kyle Walker, who’s rumoured to be leaving Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window.

A mere two hours later, and SkySources already had an update to the story, that Southampton had promised new manager Mauricio Pellegrino none of the key players were being sold, including Cedric Soares and Virgil Van Djik, a defender Spurs had also previously been linked with.

However, according to SkySources, Tottenham apparently have ‘two top targets’ lined up should 27 year old right-back Kyle Walker depart the club, and neither of the targets are thought to be Cedric.

Additionally, one of the targets is believed to be Porto full-back Ricardo Pereira.

Of course, as stated above, any move for any right-back would be dependent on the circumstances around Walker’s prospective transfer to Manchester City.
