Rumour Mill: Dortmund Expecting to Lose Ginter?

According to German newspaper Bild, Borussia Dortmund are preparing for life without 23 year old defender and rumoured Spurs target Mathias Ginter.

The 2014 World Cup winner has once again showcased his talent on the international stage, helping Germany towards another major title this evening in winning the 2017 Confederations Cup.

At just 23 years of age, Ginter is awash with experience, having participated in a number of major competitions at the highest level in what’s still just the beginning of his career.

Although the young defender has struggled with consistency at his domestic club Borussia Dortmund, the centre-back still has many years ahead of him, much like the key figures at Tottenham Hotspur.

Recently, news broke out of a possible approach from the North-London club, with most papers agreeing Spurs had made a £15 million move for the defender, and now well-known German outlet Bild is reporting that Dortmund don’t see the cenre-back staying in Germany.

According to Bild, new Dortmund gaffer Peter Bosz, who already brought in Omer Toprak as a potential replacement for Ginter, is now preparing for next season without the youngster.

The report added that should Ginter leave Westfalenstadion this Summer, he’d move to a club also in the Champions League, so as not to jeapordise his place in Joachim Low’s international plans.

Able to offer football in Europe’s elite competition, Tottenham are once again heavily linked to the defender and are expected to pursue a deal for Ginter.

What have you made of Mathias Ginter in the Confederations Cup? Do you rate him? And do you think we should sign him?
