Spurs in Martial link amid negotiations glitch

Anthony Martial could be set for a shock summer move to Tottenham after reports contract negotiations have stalled at Manchester United.

The 22-year-old forward moved to Old Trafford back in 2015 with plenty of promise that he could become a huge star of the future and he showed plenty of times why United were prepared to pay a fee which could rise to nearly £60m in his debut campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists.

He flourished under Louis van Gaal but in the following season and with Jose Mourinho’s first campaign in charge at the club his chances curtailed and he started just 18 Premier League games, finding the net only four times and nod the recent arrival of Alexis Sanchez has meant the talented French start has an even bigger battle to get a start under Mourinho.

Arsenal were allegedly hoping to take Martial in the deal which saw Sanchez head to United but Henrikh Mkhitaryan ended up heading to the Emirates.

It has since been reported Martial is unhappy with his current bit-part role at United and is considering his options according to French outlet RMC Sport, who claim the winger has refused a contract extension at the club.

He has less than 18 months left on his current deal, although United hold the option of being able to extend that by a year.

It goes on to say that we are among several clubs monitoring the player’s situation along with Inter Milan.
