Time to bench Alli says pundit

According to talkSPORT Tony Cascarino believes Dele Alli needs to be taken out of the ‘firing line’ at Tottenham to rediscover his best form.

The young midfielder has struggled to replicate the performances which have made him a key player for both club and country this season after a slow start to the campaign.

The article adds how Alli and his teammates suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of champions elect Manchester City on Saturday to slip 21 points behind the league leaders.

It goes on to say how 21-year-old also showed a nastier side to his game with a challenge on Kevin De Bruyne that left pundits calling for retrospective action and former Republic of Ireland forward Cascarino has called on Mauricio Pochettino to leave Alli on the substitute’s bench in the coming weeks.
“I think he’s played too much football,” Cascarino told the Weekend Sports Breakfast show.
“When managers are rotating and leaving people out – I felt he should have been taken out of the firing line.

Cascarino added “He’s a young man. I’ve been there myself where you just struggle and you’re not quite on it.I haven’t seen Dele Alli really make an impact in the last month since the Real Madrid victory, and especially yesterday, where he was certainly second best.”
