Winks ready for season run in

According to the London Evening Standard Harry Winks is closing in on a return to first-team training and hopes to figure in the clubs run-in.

He has been struggling with an ankle injury for over half the season, restricting him to three FA Cup appearances in 2018, and recently spent time with specialists in Qatar in an attempt to solve the problems.

However the club are satisfied Winks does not require surgery and the midfielder hopes to resume training as soon as possible.

We have four games remaining, starting against Watford at Wembley on Monday.We then travel to West Brom five days later, before completing their campaign with Wembley fixtures against Newcastle and Leicester.

Winks was in terrific form in the early part of the Season including an excellent England debut, against Lithuania last October, and he looked shoe in at that stage for a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

However injuries have seen Winks slip down the pecking order, but the article adds that he is still rated highly by Southgate, who has followed his rehabilitation closely.
