Agent squashes Dempsey Spurs exit rumours

There has been a lot of speculation that Clint Dempsey could be surplus to requirements at Tottenham this summer, but like many internet rumours this could also be false.

Various sites and newspapers have claimed that Spurs would be looking to move Dempsey on to pastures new, with AVB looking to overhaul his striking options. Depending on what you read, as recent as Sunday morning it was being claimed that West Brom were hugely interested in the American international and talks were about to begin.

Deuce’s agent has now gone public and stated that Dempsey is not being shopped around and will be present for Tottenham’s trip to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks for the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Jermain Defoe is another Spurs forward who has been linked with a N17 exit, but he is also expected to remain in AVB’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

“I have been in constant contact with Tottenham and they are happy with Clint and he’s happy with the club,” Lyle Yorks, Dempsey’s agent, told SBI.

“He’s reporting back shortly. He’ll be back there and will be in Hong Kong (for pre-season) and everything’s good.

“There have been no meetings and no discussions. Not with Tottenham or with any other teams about Clint”

“His focus right now is returning to the team and helping them qualify for Champions League.”

So there you have it. Clint Dempsey is looking likely that he’ll be a Tottenham player for the foreseeable future.
