After the euphoria, disappointment and frustration of the last three games I wonder what Spurs have in store for us this weekend? Experiencing the whole gamut of emotions is part of the pleasure and pain of being a football fan but how much would we all welcome a boring & routine home win?
It’s Blackburn though and it’s Allardyce so the chances of the away team giving in without a struggle are slim to none. Rovers will have been buoyed by Wednesday night’s excellent result at Newcastle, the team two places above us in the table, so will see the target of repeating what Everton and Sunderland have done in recent weeks as well within their abilities.
Old boys Robbo and Chimbo are likely to make return appearances, the first more likely to be well received than the latter. They’ll be joined in defence by Nelsen and Samba, two key players for Rovers. Their midfield is characterised by hard workers and their attack by big lumps. (It’s Allardyce remember).
Andre Marriner is the latest ref to come in range of Harry’s radar, a man hopefully not in the Clattenwebb envelope.
Speculation has this week been rife as to who is going to boost the squad come the January transfer window but given that also this week we’ve announced a loss despite record revenues, it’s unlikely that Redknapp will be given much to spend without selling first.
At the moment though reducing the size of the squad won’t be desirable as our injuries mean that it’s this very same squad that’s keeping us hanging on by our Champions League gloved fingertips to a place near the top of the scrum in the middle of the table. These second string players have the talent to give us the three points that would give us such a lift before heading to Woolwich next weekend. Here’s to an injury and angst free ninety minutes.
