Stevenage at home in the Cup on Wednesday night and a chance to forget our recent Premier League travails and put a lower league side to the sword. Maybe.
As we found in the first game Stevenage are no mugs. To recap, in the goalless draw at Broadhall Way we played three in defence with Walker and Rose at wing back and Bale in the centre. Saha and Defoe played up front. We were pants, hoofing it early on and only looking properly on top when Kranjcar and Lennon came on late. They had a few pot shots that weren’t close enough to disturb Cudicini from any meditations on the universe he might have been indulging in.
Harry may have plumped for three big lads due to a perceived threat in the air from the home team, if he did then he showed them more respect than whoever is in charge of the ‘next fixture’ sign at Spurs, Stevenage dropped the Borough from their name a few years back.
With the prize to the winner a home tie against Bolton in the quarter finals Redknapp will put out a strong side. Rose may come in given his success in getting to the bye-line in the first game and Defoe will probably have an outing. The rest of the line up will depend on what Harry’s random formation machine spits out but Nelsen may get his home debut and apparently William Gallas has been sighted holding his back and stiffly walking away from his sick bed, the way you do when you’ve had a good long sleep.
