MF looks ahead to Spurs vs West Brom

White Hart Lane - Spurs Football News

It’s West Brom at home on Tuesday night as we get the chance to complete our first ‘double’ of the season. If it seems like we only recently played the Baggies, that’s because we did. On November 26th Adebayor got two and Defoe one as we completed a hard fought 3-1 win at The Hawthorns. The home team did very well that day, especially in the first half and were aggrieved to come out of the game empty handed, this was despite our 23 attempts on goal and 10 corners against 9 and 1 respectively for the home team.

West Brom’s form has been up and down. A good away win at St James’s Park and a draw against Man City were followed by a disappointing home loss against Everton on New Year’s Day. They’ve certainly been in better form though overall since last we played them with their forwards remaining healthy and allowing them to be more positive overall.

Ourselves, we looked sparkling on Tuesday and tired on Saturday. Aside from weary limbs there’s a bit of yin and yang on the injury front with Lennon still out and King and Parker struggling. Dawson and Defoe though are back – and the latter may well get an outing given how well he played in the game in November. Pienaar & Livermore may add fresh legs & energy but probably not the class in front of goal that we seemed to lack at Swansea where some typically tricky and controlled midfield play often came to nothing due to a lack of presence up front.

Mark Halsey is the referee, we’ve only had him once before this season, the home win against Villa.

Given some of the results over the Christmas period, especially those of Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City three points in this game would give us a massive psychological advantage before we go into our game in hand against Everton. COYS.
