Spurs enjoyed a one goal first half lead which despite a few shocks, possession statistics will say we deserved. Chimbonda playing at right back looked as if he had already left, being  turned inside out on occasions .This lead to two wickedly taken in swinging corners that Cudicini did very well to punch out from under the bar.

It was not until the 20th minute when a strong surge by Bentley led to a free kick and also to him being replaced by Livermore that we got off an effort on goal.

This acted as a catalyst for Spurs to step it up a gear and five minutes later after a nice midfield interchange involving a sharp looking K P Boateng the ball was played through for Keane to score. Spurs spent the rest of the first half playing European football, passing it around for 29 touches and ending up back where they started. Cudicini was forced into another smart save near the end of the half and it was he, and Boateng who looked the class players on the pitch in the first half, Modric flitted in and out and Huddlestone looked the same player he was 5 years ago ( has time stood still ?).

Bent looked eager but as any Keano partner looked isolated and mistimed a couple of runs being caught offside.

Nine changes were made at half time with only Hudd and Cudicini staying on.

This led to a much stronger attacking looking side with Pavlyuchenko and especially Defoe and lennon looking the class players they are.

Defoe as ever shooting on site added a second after some nice interplay, the guy always seems to know exactly where the goal is.

The midfield general who is Palacios took charge and it was he who added the third goal after starting a move and keeping on with his run to slot past the keeper who had just parried a Defoe shot.

Defoe hit the bar with another snap shot and Lennon added entertainment flying down the wing time and again leading to a couple of blocked shots, so all in all a much better second half. Hutton looked a decent right back and worked well with Lennon.
