We recently caught up with Simon Ostiadel, Preston fan and editor of www.prestonnorthend-mad.co.uk to get his opinion ahead of tonight’s Carling Cup clash between Preston and Tottenham at Deepdale.

Have you been surprised by Tottenham’s start to the season?

Not really, Spurs have had a quality squad for the last few seasons but just needed the right man to gel them all together and guide them in the right direction. They have improved immensely under Redknapp and perhaps will reach the heights and beyond of Jol’s reign.

What do you make of Preston’s start to the new campaign?

Preston have made a solid start to the campaign losing just one game last week. We look to be sharing the goals around and are playing some good stuff on the deck whilst being solid at the back but Tottenham will be our biggest test by far so far this season.

Which Spurs player would you most want in the Preston squad?

There’s a big difference between a side potentially finishing top six in the Championship and top six in the Premiership. Most of the Spurs side week-in-week out would probably get into our side. Defoe would be needed as we lack pace and a top class striker up front.

Which Preston player should Spurs most worry about?

Wallace on the left is one of our most creative players and a good crosser of the ball but in our game Lonergan the keeper may well be the stand-out player.

Which Preston player would you happily sell to Spurs and why?

We have a decent but small squad of around 16 players who are rotated week in week out and thankfully most of the dross has been eliminated through sales over the summer. If you were to take anyone then maybe the sub keeper Henderson as he is the only one who doesn’t appear at all.

Harry Redknapp has already hinted he is going to make changes to the his side – are you confident of an upset?

Preston rarely do well against top flight opposition. We will have to play at our best even if you do make changes as you have quality forwards whoever plays up front.

Where do you think Spurs will finish in the Premier League this season?

I think you will finish somewhere between 5th and 7th.

Jermain Defoe/Ledley King – should they be in England’s World Cup squad?

Defoe if he has a good season and bangs a few goals in will go to South Africa as he is useful for Capello. King won’t play enough games and despite his quality Capello will not risk someone who can’t play several games in a short period of time.

Your score prediction?

1-1 – you to win on penalties.
