Allardyce sees Tottenham’s injury list as Blackburn’s benefit

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce believes that it is now a good time to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Redknapp has a number of injuries to his squad including Ledley King, Aaron Lennon, David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Tom Huddlestone and Jonathan Woodgate.

“Looking at Tottenham’s injury list, it is far greater than ours, probably double, so that may give us an advantage to try and take to Spurs,” he told Blackburn’s official site.

“Then we’ll hope to produce the sort of performance we gave at Liverpool, only this time with a result at the end of it.

“You’ve got to take advantage and say if Harry (Redknapp) had Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King fit, would he play them? And the answer to that would probably be yes.

“But you’ve got very good players in that position in Dawson and Bassong.

“Bale is playing in midfield now rather than Lennon or Bentley. He’s a very good player, but he normally plays at left-back.

“Modric has gone back into centre midfield rather than Huddlestone who has been there all season, or Jenas.

“So you’ve got to try and take advantage of the fact that they’ve had to disrupt their team with the five or six injuries that they’ve got and most of those injured you would say would play in the first team on a regular basis.

“So if we can find a fault in Tottenham’s side I think it is going to be from a defensive point of view, because the Tottenham fans want to see the attacking football that they generally play, and have done very well playing like that this season
