AVB: I tried to sign Scott Parker at Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he did consider re-signing Scott Parker when he was in charge at Chelsea.

Parker has recently returned from Achilles surgery which forced him to miss the first half of the season and came off the bench to replace Sandro in the 26th minute during the 0-0 draw with QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday.

AVB is now looking forward to having the tough tackling midfielder back in his team and leading by example.

“Scott’s been doing extremely well since he’s come back. He’s now at full fitness and a player we trust a lot,” Villas-Boas told the press.

“Last season I thought about him. In the end I opted for Oriol (Romeu) but I spoke to Scott as well about coming to Chelsea. I had to make a choice between them.

“Scott’s a great professional and someone of great ability. He can always give you the edge with his leadership qualities.

“He’s still at the peak of the game and his age is fine. He treats himself well and is a good professional.”
