Bale given leave of absence by Tottenham

Gareth Bale

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is given Gareth Bale some extra time off to recover.

The Welsh international is known for his constant bursts down the left wing and Redknapp recognises the fact that Bale needs a rest ahead of the Manchester United game on Saturday evening.

Redknapp said: “It will be good to give Gareth a couple of days extra off.

“I think the kid needs it. I think he’s probably going to go away for three or four days and we’ll get him in Thursday morning and it’ll do him the world of good.

“He’s tired. The kid runs miles every game. He has unbelievable stats.

“He takes some beating most days. He runs long distances.

“He needs a few days now. He had two tough games with Wales and some tough games with us.

“He’s such a nice lad. I walked off the plane and said, ‘I bet you never dreamt of scoring a hat-trick at the San Siro’. What a thing for the rest of your life.

“He does run, he gallops up and down, he’s got everything, really.”
