Benoit Assou-Ekotto has praised the impact which Harry Redknapp has had on his career at Tottenham Hotspur.

The left-back is playing his best football since joining Spurs from Lens three years ago and has been recently rewarded with a new contract.

“There are a lot of factors involved, I had a long injury and then only played six months before that,” he said. “It’s about adapting to the game and now I’m more confident.

“Harry obviously believes in me, the other managers maybe didn’t believe in me as much. They said I should be a happier person or smile more, or speak more English – but it doesn’t matter because I can prove it on the pitch.

“That is what I’m doing at the moment by playing more and becoming a better player for Tottenham Hotspur.”

This going to sound a bit like Ekotto bashing but he is not having a good spell at the moment and is conceding to many goals from is side .Even the hand ball goal was on is side. He was at fault for the third Arsenal goal Boltons second goal the stoke goal to name a few.Bassong or Bale should be given a chance just imagine Bale and Kranjcar on the left side

He has improved but I would still like to see Bale and Dos Santos down that side for a comparison. I think they would be a real threat going forward
