Chelsea have released a statement insisting that Joe Cole will not be leaving the club.

Cole had been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, which would have seen him link up again with Harry Redknapp – who gave Cole his debut at West Ham United.

A statement on the official Chelsea site read: “Contrary to media reports Chelsea is not, and will not be, considering any offers for Joe Cole.

“Our sole focus, as is Joe’s, is to complete his rehab and get him fit as soon as possible so that he can play a major part in the new season.”
