Chelsea set to steal Toby from Tottenham

Chelsea are rumoured to be sniffing around Toby Alderweireld and are monitoring his contract situation at Tottenham, according to the Express.

Many expect the central defender to leave the club this summer. The Belgian centre-half’s contract runs out in 2020 but has a clause that will allow him to leave for £25m in summer 2019 if no new deal is agreed.

Tottenham must make a decision on whether to cash in on the 29-year-old now, or allow him to leave for a bargain amount instead.

Mauricio Pochettino is said to have earmarked Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt as a potential replacement for Alderweireld, and would cost around £45million.

Manchester United are also said to be keen on Toby, personally I think it would be absolute madness if Daniel Levy allowed him to join a Premier League rival, he’s the best central defender in the league. Get him shipped off to the likes of PSG or Madrid instead, who would comfortably pay his £150,000-a-week demands.
