Darren Bent has his say on where Spurs will finish this season

Tottenham Hotspur had a memorable European campaign last season having made it through to the final of the Champions League whilst also just making it into the top four of the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino has bolstered his squad this summer with the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke.

Several pundits including the likes of Phil Neville (BBC) and Jose Mourinho (Sky Sports) have backed Tottenham to push Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title this season.

However, former Spurs striker Darren Bent expects the Lilywhites to fall short of the front two.

The 35-year-old, who spent two seasons in North London before being sold to Sunderland in the summer of 2009, backed Pochettino’s men to seal third spot if they can keep hold of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld.

Speaking to the Metro, Bent said: “Man City and Liverpool are levels above the other sides. They’ve got such good players, they attack with pace and defend really well and they both have strength in depth.

“Tottenham in third. It doesn’t look like Spurs will be losing key players Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld.”
