Defoe injury rocks Totteham as he is ruled out for six weeks

News | idv | September 9, 2010 at 7:31 am

Jermain Defoe has reportedly been ruled out for at least six weeks after injuring ankle ligaments during England’s win in Switzerland.

The Spurs striker was stretchered off during the 2-1 victory and is now set to miss Tottenham’s first three Champions League matches.

According to the Daily Mail, Defoe reported back to Spurs yesterday and had a scan on his ankle in the afternoon.

Defoe joins Michael Dawson on the sidelines after the defender damaged knee and ankle ligaments in the 4-0 win against Bulgaria on Friday.

well should have had that surgery on his grion done and i dont care if this is a different injury because now he is out for 6 weeks rather than 3 weeks im only saying this if its true hope it aint

While undoubtably missin JD is a huge loss, this will force harrys hand to play with just one striker and im fairly confident whoever he selects will be feeding off a gluttony of chances from our superb midfield and hopefully JD will come back fully fit and refreshed and start banging in the goals once again

    Sad news about JD.

I am one that takes great pride in the number of Spurs Players in the England Squad and find it a bit ironic that all three selected are now on the injured list. Am I glad that Cap did not choose Ledley, the Thud and Aaron.

The only good thing that might come out of this, is that Pav is likely to get an extended run, and this is where we find out if he is the real deal, or a mistake on our part. At least he has not spent the summer looking for a move

It's very unfortunate (particularly since Defoe recently found his form with the hat trick the other night) but a rather easy fix… we have a brilliant attacking midfielder in VDV, so Super Pav up front, and VDV just behind him. I see it like this:

    Gomes
    Corluka King Gallas BAE
Lennon Sandro or Palacios Modric Bale
    VDV
    Pavlyuchenko

Be interesting to see 5 in midfield with pav or crouch up front.
