Dele to snub Madrid and co for new Spurs deal

Dele Alli has began talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a new contract worth over £100,000-a-week, according to reports in The Sun.

The England midfielder currently has four years to run on his existing deal at the club and currently earns around £50,000-a-week. He has already had two contract extensions since his move from MK Dons in order to reward the amazing progress he has made since becoming a Tottenham player.

The new contract will put Dele on similar terms to the likes of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane as the top earners at the club, and hopefully end the annoying rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

I have to admit, in recent matches Dele has not looked himself. His performances have been well below the standard which we normally expect from the 21-year-old, hopefully he can put pen to paper on a new deal and then get back to his best as we are certainly missing his quality in the final third.

There has been plenty of talk in the media recently about Dele changing agents to the likes of Mino Raiola who represents Paul Pogba. However, Dele apparently has more than a year left on his rep agreement with Impact Sports and the Football Association are not fans of players changing representation mid contract.

If Dele does indeed sign the new deal, it sends a huge message to the fans that he sees his future long term at the club. For so many years we’ve seen our best players come and go – but we need to start winning trophies!
