FA Jump To Dele’s Defence

According to SkySports, the FA have stayed true to their word and submitted video evidence to FIFA in defence of Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.

The 21 year old faces punishment from the footballing body pending the results of their investigation of England’s 2-1 World Cup Qualifying victory over Slovakia on the 4th of September.

The Spurs youngster was caught on camera making a rude gesture late into the match, which Dele himself claimed to be a joke between himself and international team-mate Kyle Walker.

Following the incident, FIFA released a statement claiming they’d be reviewing the match reports ahead of prospectively taking disciplinary action against the Englishman.

Jumping to the midfielder’s defence, the FA announced that they would send FIFA video evidence as proof of the player’s innocence, as initial fears had suggested that Dele had frustratingly showed his middle-finger to the referee and not his team-mate.

According to SkySports, the FA have done exactly that as a part of FIFA’s investigation, while it is also understood that the FA have pleaded with FIFA to resolve the issue before England’s next World Cup Qualifier against Slovenia on the 5th of October.

England are in need of just 2 points from their remaining 2 games to confirm their place in next Summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Manager of the Three Lions Gareth Southgate will be sure to want Dele Alli available for the ties, given the magnitude of the occasion.
