Fan’s thoughts on Everton win

The Toffies put out a strong statement of their intentions when spending in excess of £100m in this summer’s transfer window on players such as Klassen and Rooney, constructing a mixture of both youth and experience within their squad.

Their last result was an impressive 1-1 draw away at Manchester City, a game which they probably could have won. Spurs travelled to Merseyside expecting a tough encounter, however having hope in Harry Kane after his brace for England in the international break. Pochettino handed new signing Davinson Sanchez his first start for the club, whilst deadline day signings Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente made the bench.

The game started with end to end chances for both sides, with Everton striker Sandro coming close from an opportunity blocked by Toby Alderweireld. As the half grew it was clear to see that it was only a matter of time before Spurs broke the deadlock, and just before the half hour mark it was Harry Kane who scored from a ‘flukey cross’ out on the right hand side of the pitch, his 100th Spurs goal.

As the game neared half time it was clear to see that Spurs were in control of this game, as Eriksen doubled the lead just before half time.

The second half got off to the perfect start with Harry Kane getting his second of the game after a predatory finish inside the Everton box right after kick off.

Most fans were impressed by Mousa Sissoko’s fine display, looking quick and powerful on the attack and could be a useful option against Dortmund on Wednesday in place of the suspended Dele Alli.
