Gallas plays 70 minutes in Tottenham friendly

William Gallas

William Gallas was in action for a Tottenham Hotspur XI earlier today in a 3-1 win against QPR at Spurs Lodge.

Gallas played 70 minutes of the friendly as he looks to get himself ready for first-team footbal for Spurs, even more so due to Michael Dawson’s injury.

Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley played the full 90 minutes, while Kyle Naughton who was earlier linked with a loan move to Middlesbrough also played.

“It was William’s first game for a while and it was excellent for the younger boys to play alongside him,” coach Tim Sherwood told the club’s official site.

“He showed how he squeezes play up the pitch, how he uses his body and he manages the game superbly.

“Jermain Jenas was outstanding, picking the ball up, running at QPR, getting into their box and causing them problems.

“The energy was fantastic centrally from JJ and Jake Livermore, who has played three or four games for us like that now.”

Kudus Oyenuga, Harry Kane and Massimo Luongo were on target for Spurs.

Spurs XI: Alnwick; Naughton (Byrne, 70), Gallas (Durjaiye, 70), Butcher, Smith; Bentley, Jenas, Livermore, Carroll (Luongo, 55); Kane, Oyenuga.
