Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the third round of the Carling Cup with a 5-1 win at Doncaster Rovers.

Goals from Tom Huddlestone, Jamie O’Hara, Peter Crouch, Roman Pavlyuchenko and David Bentley ensured Harry Redknapp’s side continued their unbeaten start to the new campaign.

Redknapp told the official site after the game: “You are looking for the lads who haven’t been playing to come in and do a good job,”

“I made lots of changes but I’m lucky in that I can bring in two strikers like Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko and the likes of David Bentley and Giovani, so I’ve still a strong forward line even though I’ve rested all the four who have been playing. It’s a great problem to have.

“It was great for Crouchy to score his first goal. He’s been unlucky because I started with Jermain (Defoe) and Robbie (Keane) and they’ve been great for us. Crouchy and Pav have just been unlucky not to get a game.

“We’re lucky in that we can rotate the strikers occasionally and we can do different things against different teams.

“It’s a long season and we’ll need four strikers and it’s great to have those options.”

“It was a good win for us but I’ve got to say I was impressed with Doncaster,” he added. “I thought they started well and Carlo Cudicini had to make two great saves.

“I know it’s easy when you’ve won 5-1 to say how good the other team was but I genuinely thought they played some great football, the way they passed it, the angles they found and they had chances as well. We took our chances and our keeper’s made some vital saves.”
