Lokomotiv Moscow fear that their hopes of signing Roman Pavlyuchenko may be over.

The Tottenham forward nearly made the move back to his native Russia in a £10million deal in January, but impressed on his return to the Spurs starting line-up.

‘The situation has changed,’ said Lokomotiv head coach Yuri Semin. ‘I’m afraid it will be difficult to get Pavlyuchenko.

‘His team qualified for the Champions League and he regained the coach’s confidence. ‘In any case, we can’t get hung up on one player. We definitely need one more forward to strengthen the attack.’

    we need to keep hold of our best striker pav because of his champions league experience ,and crouch has added a new dimension to our play in attack and defence with his unique style but defoe is shit ,why didn't we sell him instead of bent ,and that immobile mercenary iceberg is even worse (scum of the earth) and as for keano ,a great servant who is past it ,so harry's task for the summer is to buy 2 good strikers in and shift out these 3 bums .

    Huseyin. What do you base the Defoe being shit claim on? Is he not the clubs top scorer? England international? Adored by the faithful? I'll admit that he's had a dip in form but shit he ain't! His work rate has been sensational recently too! Something Darren Bent wasn't quite up to.

    Huseyin I cannot believe you have even used defoe and bent in the same sentance! Bent isn’t good enough to lace defoe’s boots up! I like pav but honestly don’t believe he is good enough to be part of our first choice strike pairing. I watched Ath Madrid play fulham last night and would take Forlan or Aguero in a heartbeat,they are both terrific strikers who would take us up another level. There are numerous players such as silva,huntelaar,villa,fabiano players such as these are players we should be lookin to bring in. We need to step up a level I think harry and daniel levy will no this. I trust in them both and I believe we will sign a world class player to take us up the level we need to be at.

    I don’t why we even mentioning bent on this site as far as I’m concern he’s almost as bad as Campbell , he one of those players who look great in small team and can’t hack big time remember he had a chance at webley to spend spurs to European championsip what he did what he always does – bottle it as for rest of spurs strikers I think Defoe was holding back for world club he been little unlucky

Defoe is a beautiful striker, an English perfectionist at his best, yea he dropped in form after injury and approaching the world cup…so what? Would you have ditched Harry after Wolves? Its supporters like you that ruin this game, Defoe has shown nothing but loyalty to our beautiful team. YID ARMY!

    I can honestly say that Pavlyuchenko is the WORST forward we have had at Spurs since I started watching them in the 71/72 season. He even pips Mark Falco who used to spend most of the game on his arse and Andy Booth who would not be out of place in a Sunday League Pub side. The facts are he can't trap the ball, he can't keep the ball, he can't pass the ball, he has no vision and seldom passes to fellow strikers in better scoring positions, he swings wildly at open scoring chances and he either makes the same runs as his fellow strikers or no run at all. I have watched every game he has played in and every game he hasn't and without doubt Peter Crouch is a better foil for Jermaine Defoe than Pav is. Why has Defoe's scoring record which was consistent through the first two-thirds of the season dropped off towards the end – Easy, he was partnered with someone who can't play the game! It honestly mystifies me why Pavlyuchenko seems to be held in such fairly high esteem by some of my fellow Spurs fans. I can only assume that they never got the chance to watch players like: Garth Crooks, Alan Gilzean, Martin Chivers, Jurgen Klinsmann, Teddy Sheringham, Steve Archibald, Gary Lineker and a whole host of other TOP CLASS strikers playing for our wonderful club and the mediocrity offered by our Russian import is seen by them as good?? I only hope that Harry ships him out to Stevenage Borough or Kettering where his ability will be matched by their own players, and gets in a player who gives all, and has skill in abundance such as Carlos Tevez for instance. Then we may have some chance of doing some damage in the Champions' League next season…

      Simon what drugs are you on? Call yourself a Spurs fan, bullshit. I have watched those names you mentioned time and time again, and yest hey are magnificent, that’s hwy they’re considered legends.. and how dare you compare Tevez to Pav. They’re completely different, and Tevez’s attitude stinks. Pav is a real player, he does his defensive duties when called upon, and in every game he’s played in his work rate has been phenomenal. The goals he score are sublime. And how can you honestly say he is the WORST? Bent, anyone?

      Pav will score the goal that wins the CL next season. Just watch. COYS
