Kane warning to Dele on temperament

Harry Kane has warned team mate Dele Alli he must keep his temper in check if he is to help Tottenham win major silverware this season, according to an article in The Mirror.

Dele missed the first three games of Tottenham’s Champions League campaign because of a suspension after getting sent off in Europe last season and the youngster was also suspended for England after a one-fingered salute against Slovakia.

Alli’s scored twice on his return as help shock Real Madrid with a performance which showed Spurs can be genuine European contenders.

And England team mate Kane believes Alli is among Europe’s elite – but admits he must keep his temperament in check. The article quotes Kane as saying: “Hopefully he stays calm and we’ll have him for the rest of the campaign,” said the striker.

Kane added “It hurt him he was banned for three games, as it would anyone. Especially missing big games – like Dortmund and Madrid. So you can see he was raring to go and what a performance from him. He was fantastic. He does it in the Premier League as well. One-v-one he can take players on. He’s a good finisher, he gets into the box.”

The piece adds that Kane also revealed Mauricio Pochettino had spotted weaknesses in the approach of Madrid, who have won the Champions League three times out of the last four. “We looked at the clips at the Bernabeu, and we said if we’re better on the ball we can definitely exploit the spaces,” he said.

Kane continued: “The whole team was fantastic, we all built around each other, and without the ball we made it difficult for them and on the counter we were very, very strong.”

Meanwhile the article reveals that Alli heaped praise on Mauricio Pochettino for giving him and his team mates the belief they can win major silverware with the Premier League and Champions League in their sights with Alli also believing the victory over Real Madrid shows that Tottenham can beat anyone in Europe and can also win the title.

Dele said: “The way he talks to us in the meetings – he gives us a lot of self-belief. Tactically we are very strong, we put a lot of trust in the manager and he puts a lot of trust into us, we feel like we can beat everyone.

The attacking midfielder added:”We have been a bit unfortunate the last two seasons in the Premier League, coming second and third. It’s important we don’t get carried away with the way we played, we have to keep making sure we build together as a team, keep working together on the training field.I have got a lot of thanks for the manager for putting the trust back in me by putting me in the starting XI in the Champions league. Happy to get the two goals but more importantly it was solid performance by everyone. We got the win.

Dele concludes: “As a team we are confident in ourselves and whoever we come against we are going to want to beat.”

Dele is very clearly a confidence player and he did look off the boil in recent matches however his mojo seems to he returning and perhaps Pochettino’s vote of confidence ahead of the Madrid game was what the lad needed. Kane is such a wise head on young shoulders and his leadership is clear to see. Alli has huge potential and I’m sure having people around him like Poch and Kane he will only get better.

What do we reckon on Dele, was his relative poor form all down to the agent thing?, he seemed disinterested but suddenly in the last few weeks he’s come alive
