Lamela pays tribute to Tottenham after recall

Tottenham midfielder Erik Lamela has expressed his gratitude to Tottenham Hotspur for helping him through his injury hell last season.

Lamela has shown glimpses in the opening matches of the new campaign that we could be ready to see the player which saw Spurs shell out £30million for last season.  The 22-year-old has been called into the Argetina squad which will face Germany in Dusseldorf but you would think would be a massive boost to his confidence.

One thing which has been notably different with Lamela this season compared to last is his workrate off the ball.  He is looking to press at every opportunity to win the ball back, which Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit for.

Lamela told Central Fox: “Being called to the national team is the best thing that could happen to a football player. I will enjoy it and will try to give my best from me. I am very happy to be in the team again.

“To be honest, I was surprised when I found out I was being recalled, most of all because the list of players had already been done. At the last minute I was told that I had to travel to Dusseldorf and I am very happy about that.

“I had a long injury, so I am thankful to my current club as they have always backed me for anything that I needed.

“In fact, I feel that they have taken care of me, and thanks to that I have started the season in the best way.

“If I have a good performance in my team then the doors of the national team may keep on being opened for me, just like it has happened in this occasion.”
