BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will beat West Ham United on Saturday.
He told BBC Sport Online: “It’s easy to understand why people think this one might be tight, especially given the way West Ham have improved with that three-pronged central midfield of Scott Parker, Mark Noble and Thomas Hitzlsperger.
“Manager Avram Grant has got them playing good football, they’ve won their last two league games and if they carry on like this they’ll pull clear of the bottom three. But Tottenham are very strong at home and, on this occasion, I just feel they will have too much attacking talent for the Hammers.
“I don’t think Spurs are going to win the Champions League, so it’s critically important for them to pick up points from matches like these if they’re going to finish in the top four and keep their place at Europe’s top table.
“Prediction: 2-1.”
