Lawro predicts Spurs to lose to Man Utd

BBC footballl pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will lose to Manchester United on Monday night.

He told BBC Sport Online: “United might be starting the season with some very big home games, following the visit of Spurs with Arsenal and Chelsea, but for them it will just be another game. That is part of the reason they are so good.

“They already look lively. In their win over West Brom, we saw more of what we knew about United from their performance against Manchester City in the Community Shield, that is there are question marks over their young keeper David De Gea but Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young have already clicked together and Tom Cleverley looks like he has been playing in their midfield for years.

“Tottenham have had to wait to start their season but there is still uncertainty over Luka Modric’s future and the other question is whether Emmanuel Adebayor will be arriving from Manchester City, and who will make way for him up front if he does.

“No doubt Spurs will go to Old Trafford and give it a go, but I cannot see them having any joy this time.”

    People are taking this way too personally… Spurs away to United at Old trafford? are you suprised that people are predicting United to beat us? I'm certainly not…. if you were a betting man you'd got for a home win or a draw. I do think we may be able to pull one out of the bad here tho, especially after last nights confidence booster – i just wouldnt put my money on it!

    Well said Ted!! atleast some of us Spurs fans are realistic.

    If we perform well, we will give them a very good game theres no disputing that.

    Id take a draw everyday of the week at old trafford.

    A win would leave me jumping for joy.

    We have to be realistic!!

    you can count on one hand how many times spurs have won at old trafford so it’s no suprise he has gone for united,hopefully spurs will be able to get a result this time as not to sure united are as good as they were last season ? even with the new signings could all hinge on modric playing as to how close this game will be?, hopefully defoe will show the sharpness he showed at hearts!!!fingers crossed

    Ive never actually gone into a game v United with more confidence of getting something than I am now. BELIEVE Harry and the boys will too….never really rated him as a Pundit anyway..little bit too smug for my liking.

    Would I be right in assuming that he also predicted that Liverpool wouldn't lose? I once put together a league table based upon Lawro's predictions over the course of a season – we would have finished 3rd from bottom, liverpool would have won the league as I recall.
