The Levy-Pochettino love in…

He declared his love for Harry Kane earlier in the season so we are not sure how Harry might feel now however with Mauricio Pochettino saying he is “in love” with Daniel Levy because the Tottenham chairman gave him the chance to “write history” in north London.

According to an article in the London Evening Standard, Pochettino and Levy have proven to be close allies since the Argentines arrival from Southampton in the summer of 2014.

Since then, the article says,we have established ourselves as one of the Premier League’s top sides, with an exciting brand of football and commitment to young players that has made them a neutral favourite.

The article adds that Levy is particularly enamoured with his manager, saying in Spanish journalist Guillem Balague’s new book Brave New World that he would like to see the Argentine in the Spurs dugout “in 10 to 15 years’ time”.

Balagué’s book was officially launched last night and Pochettino offered his own tribute to Levy, thanking him for the opportunity to work at Tottenham.

“It’s true that sometimes I don’t want to be so kind with Daniel because Daniel knows more than me that sometimes we have differences, but I am in love with him,” he said.

He added “Because he is the type of person who gave me one day, three and a half years ago, the possibility to be here.

“To be able to write some history for this amazing club, to start to discover a different style of club, a different kind of project. To be here to me is more than a pleasure. I am so happy and my family and that is why I am so proud.”

The article adds that Levy’s suggestion of a 15 year stay was put to Pochettino last month and he said he’d be happy to put pen to paper on a contract for that period.

Following a lunch appointment with Sir Alex Ferguson last season Pochettino had been linked with Manchester United and his exploits at Spurs will doubtless lead to further interest from European giants but the article says we should not doubt how invested their manager is in the club.

Pochettino added “Of course my commitment with the club and Daniel is complete and of course then that depends more on them than me, to be here for 20 years,”

Pochettino added. “But of course I think Tottenham is a big club with massive potential. After three-and-a-half years we are always growing and growing.
“I feel so well, helping the club, helping the fans, helping the players and I am so happy here. But you cannot guess what will happen in the future, but my commitment is complete here and I would like to stay here. But I don’t want to think past tomorrow.”
