Sort your head out Luka

Luka Modric has been told by Andre Villas-Boas to sort his head out in preparation of returning to the Tottenham first team squad.

The fact is simple – Modric will not be sold unless our valuation of £40million is met by Real Madrid or any other club. The Croatian threw his toys out of his pram last month when he refused to travel with the Spurs squad for the tour of the USA and has been training in isolation ever since.

With just over a week to go before we kick-off our Premier League campaign at Newcastle it remains to be seen if AVB will include Modric in his plans for the match. One thing is for sure, no player is bigger than Tottenham Hotspur football club.

“He is training alone because we decided to do that until his mental state is ready to return to the team,” Villas-Boas said.

“It is important that, in the coming days, he understands he must return to the first team.

“We respect the player’s ambition, but he must also respect the club.”

Villas-Boas told reporters: “Until we receive a suitable offer for the player, he will not go.

“The contacts we have had with other clubs have not met with what Tottenham wants for the player.

“We respect the size of Madrid and the other interested clubs, but they must respect what we are doing too.”
