Madrid coach admits Modric interest

Aitor Karanka has given the clearest indication yet that Real Madrid want to replace Kaka with Tottenham’s Luka Modric.

Up until now no member of the Madrid coaching staff or board had publically admitted their interest in the Spurs midfielder.

Modric seems to have his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, who are yet to match our valuation of £40million.

Kaka’s time at the Spanish giants looks to be over and he did not travel with the rest of the squad for their pre-season friendly win at Real Oviedo.

Karanka told AS: “We decided he would stay in Madrid. Kaka and the club are working to find a good solution for all parties.”

Asked about Modric, he added: “Which club would not want a player like him?

“He is an outstanding footballer and had a great tournament (Euro 2012). It is clear that he would fit in Madrid.”
