The Tottenham players who defied Harry Redknapp to go to Dublin for a Christmas party are set to be fined in an unofficial format.

Redknapp had promised to deal with his players ‘severely’ are after 16 of his first team went to bars in Ireland, after telling their boss they were going to play golf.

However, it turns out that because the party was not in direct breach of their contracts, the players cannot be directly fined by the club for their actions.

Instead, the players in question will be told to make a charitable donation which could total up to £1million between them.

Captain Robbie Keane is set to keep the armband as well, with the ‘fine’ to be the extent of his punishment as well.

Reports today claim that the meeting between the players and Redknapp was amicable, with the Spurs boss having ‘clamed down considerably since his original response’.

Therefore, Redknapp has decided against a strict punishment which could disrupt the squad.
