Roman Pavlyuchenko has flown to Russia to link up early with Guus Hiddink’s national team, after not being included in the Tottenham squad for the trip to Bolton Wanderers.

The Spurs striker has been sidelined with an Achilles injury and returned to training on Monday, but instead of being at the Reebok Stadium, he’ll be back in his homeland to meet with his agent.

‘I won’t travel with the (Spurs) team, so already I can go to Moscow,’ he said.

‘I’ve trained in the last few days at maximum level and understand that what lies ahead for Russia are the biggest matches of the year – against Germany and Azerbaijan.

‘As for my situation at the club, I can only say one thing: if I don’t get more match practice then, in the winter, it is most likely that I will have to search for a new club.’
