PLAYER RATINGS: Gent 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham’s continental nightmare took another turn for the worse after they endured a surprise 1-0 defeat to Gent in the last 32 of the Europa League.

After limping out of the Champions League group stage in November, Spurs now have work to do next week at Wembley if they are to avoid an early exit from Europe’s second tier tournament, too.

Jeremy Perbet scored the winner just before the hour for Gent, who sit a lowly eighth in Belgium’s top tier but fully deserved their victory against a painfully out-of-sorts Tottenham.

  1. How in the name of God,Allah,Buddah or anyone else you choose have we reached the dizzy heights of 3rd in the Premier league – who have we been kidding ? You can’t possibly become such a crock of shit in such a short space of time unless we were really a pile of Pooh in disguise all along. What on earth makes you think we’ll turn Fulham over let alone turn up at all at Wembley – and there’s me thinking shit, lifeless, clueless performances had at last been consigned to the history books- oh no here we go again!

  2. Tactics and team selection – 0/10.
    Substitutions – 0/10
Poch had so many players out of position would not have been surprised to see Kane swap with Lloris!!!
Use Wimmer or let him go, Dier is no substitute for Verts but Wimmer was last year.
For me, Poch had a lot to answer for tonight.

  3. That’s being generous. I’d have given Sissoko 2, Dier 3, Davies 3 and Kane 3, Kane has done nothing in the last three games, he needs to be dropped but we have no replacement, I wonder if Levy can see we now have a problem up front that needs addressing.
