PLAYER RATINGS: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 AEL Limassol

Hugo Lloris – Could have been asleep for the entire match. Limassol posed zero goal threat.

Kyle Naughton – Sloppy early on but recovered well and linked up effectively down the right flank with Townsend.

Younes Kaboul – Commanding and powerful at the back, not at all troubled.

Vlad Chiriches –  A meandering run up the pitch both with and without the ball allowed him to assist Paulinho’s strike, and he looked composed in defence as well.

Ben Davies – Davies is a typical solid, no-thrills defender. Nothing was getting past him and he was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions when he ventured up the pitch.

Sandro – The kind of performance that makes you wish he’ll stay. Successful tackles flying in left, right and centre, this was a reflection of the pre-injury Sandro. Kept the midfield in order throughout.

Mousa Dembele – A quiet performance.

Paulinho – A much-improved display from the Brazilian which suggests that maybe he could go the same way as Lamela and Chadli. Took his goal very nicely and just generally looked dangerous in the opposition half.

Aaron Lennon – Extremely hard-working for little reward. Unlucky not to score with an attempted lob in the second half.

Andros Townsend – Flattered to deceive. His direct runs and shots may look impressive, but the eventual product was always minimal. Fortunate that he was always to take the penalty – and a very good one at that – to salvage his evening slightly.

Harry Kane – Lacks conviction in front of goal but he led the line admirably and took his goal well. The missed penalty has to go down to bad luck – just a trailing leg deflected the ball away.

Substitutions

Lewis Holtby – Not on the pitch for long enough to influence proceedings. Could be the last time he plays at White Hart Lane if rumours of a move to Hamburg are true. I for one hope he stays.

Milos Veljkovic –  Given a token five minutes at the end of the game.
