Poch: Morata ‘not realistic’ for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has played down speculation linking Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata with a move to White Hart Lane.

Pochettino was asked about the possibility of signing the 24-year-old of whom he knows from his time in Spain.

There is no doubt that we need to bring in another forward if we are to try and compete on both domestic and Champions League fronts next season. Thankfully we’ve managed to fill the void domestically when Kane has been sidelined with injury, but Poch needs to bring in a forward who can fit in and find the back of the net – can Janssen step up?

Poch said: “I know Morata from when I started my career at Espanyol.

“The reality was that he sent a text to me when I was manager at Espanyol.

“He contacted me – it is possible to give advice and then we kept our relationship, a good relationship.

“He’s a great kid and a very good player but it’s not realistic that situation – thinking Morata [is] for us.”

Chelsea are said to be keen to sign the striker, who is high up on their list along with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
