Pochettino boost as duo nearing return

Mauricio Pochettino was handed a boost this week when long term absentees Erik Lamela and Danny Rose returned to first-team training at Hotspur Way as they work their way back to full fitness.

Rose has been out since early January with a knee injury and after several attempts he finally appears to be nearing a comeback.

It is the first time that Rose has appeared in full training since his controversial interview with The Sun in which he criticised the clubs transfer & wage policy, comments that resulted in a club fine.

Rose condemned the club, and inadvertently insulted some of his team mates in the interview with the tabloid ,for failing to sign players that “you don’t have to Google”. The Leeds born star also spoke of his desire to return north before he retires, and several reports this week claim Manchester United are reportedly ready to prise him away.

Lamela has been out for even longer than his team mate, having not played since the end of October, his absence now the subject of some ridicule.

The Argentine has been through the mill in an effort to get fit. He has spent some time with the medical staff at former club Roma during his spell on the sidelines, with both clubs actually working together in an attempt to help him fully recover.

The clubs medical staff have not set specific dates for the duo’s return , with Bournemouth and Real Madrid likely to be too soon.
