Kyle Naughton’s loan switch to Portsmouth looks set to be delayed due to a contract deadlock at Tottenham.

The young full-back has only played one first-team game for Spurs since his switch from Sheffield United and Harry Redknapp wants the 21-year-old to pen a new deal at the Lane before he heads off on loan.

Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill told the Portsmouth News: “I don’t like talking about anyone else’s players until potentially we get them across the line. Let’s just wait and see.

“Obviously Kyle Naughton is definitely somebody we are hot on and we have spoken to him and very much he is keen to come.

“I think that perhaps Tottenham want him to sign a new contract before he comes out and if I am honest that might be the small stumbling block at the moment.

“So at the moment, I don’t know if anyone will come in before Palace.”

I don't think he should be going anywhere, played very well pre-season. Spurs should be playing the young guns in the carling cup not sending them all out loan. This guy should be around to keep the snail in check that is Corluka…he's as good as Gibbs from Arsenal so why doesn't he get a chance?
