Pundit believes title-winning manager would ‘entertain’ Spurs fans

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has endorsed Ange Postecoglu for the Tottenham job, remarking that the Celtic boss would serve up entertaining football at North London if he gets the position.

Since it emerged on Thursday that Tottenham’s pursuit of Arne Slot had collapsed, multiple publications have talked up the chances of the Lilywhites now making a move for Postecoglu.

The Independent claimed on Thursday evening that the style of football that the Australian has Celtic playing is one of the reasons he appeals as a candidate to the Spurs hierarchy.

Football Insider subsequently suggested that Postecoglu had been on Spurs’ wishlist right from the start and the club only overlooked him in favour of Slot due to concerns over his age.

The outlet added that the 57-year-old’s contract with Celtic has a low release clause, which makes it a particularly attractive deal for Tottenham but it was suggested that the Scottish giants would not entertain an approach for their boss until the Scottish Cup Final.

When asked if Postecoglu plays entertaining football, McCoist has now told talkSPORT Breakfast: “He does (play attacking football). Big Ange has done exceptionally well, exceptionally well. He has got his team playing in a manner that will certainly entertain (Tottenham).”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Ange Postecoglu is an attack-minded coach but he simply is not proven at the top level.

Not only is the Scottish Premiership on par with League One in terms of quality but he has also managed a team with the most resources in the division, which is why it is hard to read too much into his success at Celtic Park.
