Redknapp wants success on both fronts

Harry Redknapp has set his sights on two fronts, aiming to win the FA Cup as well as seal Tottenham a place in next season’s Champions League.

Spurs sit fourth in the table and take on Bolton Wanderers in an FA Cup replay tonight.

Redknapp still insists Spurs’ league position is the priority for the season, but he wants his team to lift silverware at the end of the season.

“I would love to do them both, but it would be nice to get in the top four.

“I want to win against Bolton and I want to get to Wembley in the cup final but, certainly finishing in the top four would be a terrific achievement from where we have come from.

“But I don’t want to put that in the players’ minds that they start thinking that the cup is not important and we have to try to get in the top four.

“I want us to keep focusing on winning matches, it is a big week.

“I said that to a couple of the lads. Wigan away, a cup game and Everton at home. Another good week and we can put ourselves in great shape.”

Redknapp has also claimed that a few of the promising youngsters in the Spurs squad could be rewarded with a chance to shine against Bolton.

“We haven’t got a big squad here, although people go on about it and say we do.

“We have loaned a few players out and when I went to Leeds in the last round I had two 17-year-old kids on the bench.

“We will be a little bit stronger this time, but still one or two of the youth team will get on the bench.”
