Report explains the release clause Ange Postecoglou has at Celtic amid Spurs links

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham’s managerial target Ange Postecoglou has a relatively low release clause in his contract with Celtic.

Since it emerged on Thursday that Spurs’ pursuit of Arne Slot had collapsed, multiple outlets have reported that Ange Postecoglou could now emerge as one of the North London club’s top targets (The Times).

In fact, The Independent even suggested yesterday that Tottenham‘s good relationship with Celtic could make the deal easy for the Lilywhites to pull off.

Football Insider have now become the latest publication to talk up the chances of Spurs pursuing Postecoglou, revealing that the Celtic boss has been on the Premier League side’s shortlist right from the beginning.

The report reveals that the only reason why the Australian was not at the top of the list was due to concerns about his age.

It is said that Postecoglou’s release clause is relatively low, which is one of the reasons why he is an attractive candidate for Tottenham.

Football Insider suggests that Celtic might not be open to any approach for their head coach before the Scottish Cup Final, with the club chasing a treble.

One can argue that Postecoglou is the candidate that resembles Slot the most, given the style of football the 57-year-old’s teams play and his reputation as someone who unites everyone at the club.

However, he is also competing in a sub-standard league and managing a team which has superior resources to any other club in the division. So, appointing the Australian would carry a huge risk for Spurs.
