Can Rose oust BAE as Tottenham’s left-back?

Danny Rose - Tottenham Hotspur Football News

Danny Rose hopes to prove he is good enough to be Tottenham’s first-choice left-back.

Rose has a challenge on his hands to oust Benoit Assou-Ekotto from Harry Redknapp’s first choice squad. Benny has been one of our star performers over the past year-and-a-half.

Rose told the Spurs site: “My ultimate aim is to be in the starting XI on a Saturday.

“I got in the team for the last four games of last season and did well.

“I started all right in pre-season and was unlucky to get the injury.

“That has set me back a bit, but I want to be in the starting line-up on a Saturday.

“The way I train I think I deserve to be in and around it.

I hope to do well (against Rubin Kazan) and get some positive feedback.”

NO! But, could be great cover for either LB/LW, considering He progresses into what we all expect.

Joke responses so far from people, Rose was excellent in the last four games of last season( namely at Eastlands & Anfield ) I was at Anfield and watched the City game on the box and he did things that Akotto just does not do well..such as for a small guy he leaps well to head away diagonal balls and crosses and is aware of the danger – the sort of thing that Akotto either ducks from or fouls the opponent. Look at Pav's winner against Brum, Roger Johnson went on the right flank in order to flick on a Ben Foster punt into the box but Rose timed his header well to set up Pav – Johnson is clearly a few feet taller than Rose!
Akotto has improved but still makes errors in every game – look at Wigan away for example, it seems to me that when someone at Spurs becomes a favourite there mistakes get brushed under the carpet just like Dawson does for instance….COYS

4TH gen I completely agree. Rose has the potential to be a lot better all round player than Ekotto. He is a great crosser and defender. He has great positioning and is wicked fast!

At this moment in time the answer is NO. The BAE detractors whom I'm of the firm belief are not true Spurs fans or have shit in their eyes, will say yes. I have no doubt that Danny will be a tremendous player for Spurs one day but that day has'nt arrived yet. Very nice to hear him say that he is ready willing and able though. I bet that if BAE was English, he would be in the England squad right now without question and Cole would be looking over his shoulder with fear of losing his place as a regular.

bae is one of the most overated lbs in the prem. i have never seen a player ball watch as much as he does . publicly slated by ex pros hansen, roberts neville, merson etc they cant all be wrong!!! he has a worldy every now and again but cannot defend!! wont close down crosses, wont throw himself at challenges to stops shots goals.. he links up ok with bale .. get rid of if we r going to push forward. danny rose done well the back end of last season at left back when we looked the most comfortable at the back then we did all season. if bae is one of the best then i would hate to see the worst!!!! coys
