Rumour Mill: Italian Giants Rejected Summer Interest From Spurs?

According to FCInterNews, Serie A side Inter Milan rejected interest from Tottenham Hotspur over the permanent signing of 33 year old goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Before signing a new deal at the club last year, the veteran goalkeeper had previously been locked in lengthy contract negotiations with the threat of Handanovic leaving Inter an ever-present danger.

The ‘keepers’ current deal will however run out in 2019 and according to FCInterNews, the Italian outfit are desperate to retain the services of their number 1 goalkeeper and avoid a similar deadlock in communication.

Additionally, Inter Milan reportedly rejected interest from Premier League sides Liverpool and Spurs, who were keen to lure the Slovenian to England with the promise of Champions League football.

The player’s agent Fali Ramadani apparently had a meeting with Inter Mila’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio to discuss a possible transfer, before they agreed not to act on the interest.

According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham were monitoring the 33 year old as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris amidst fears that the Spurs skipper could be tempted abroad, considering Real Madrid and PSG were both rumoured to be searching for a new number 1.
